When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting.

Acts 2:1-2

Dear Friends in Christ,

Wow! What a Great Wind! Last night, as I tried to get some sleep, the whole parsonage was filled with the sound of a violent wind. Then, as I tried to make my way home to Wallingford this morning, I saw hundreds of trees down along the roads. Fortunately, the parsonage and church building weathered the storm well and I hope you did too.

In the Hebrew texts, Ruah (or wind) is the symbol of the Holy Spirit and seems to be associated with great change. It is no surprise then, that the author of the Book of Acts, has a great wind bring in the great change of Pentecost. The Holy Spirit transformed the diverse gathering of Jews into a community unified by the Word of God.

As I listened to the great wind rattle the windows and creek the timbers; and I reflected on the transformation we are experiencing at BFC, I felt comforted by the presence of the Holy Spirit. God is with us in all we do.

MEET OUR LEADERSHIP TEAM

What goes on after service on Sundays?

We are all grateful for what we have at BFC, a beautiful, warm, safe place to worship the lord and share our joys and concerns with our friends and neighbors on Sunday mornings. How does this continue to happen? We all know our generous/caring nature and generous giving of time and money are vital, but what goes on Mondays thru Saturdays? Lets take some time and space in our newsletter to learn about what happens between Sundays. It takes all of us to keep BFC alive and well and in addition we are so fortunate to have a group of folks who lead the way.

There are currently 8 members. We call these folks the Leadership Team. Guided by the Pastor they meet formally once a month to discuss how things are going and make decisions guiding our church community forward. They converse with each other as needed between meetings. Meetings are open to all and others are encouraged to join and play a leadership role. In the next few weeks we will take a look at these leaders and how they serve our church family.
