Eva Mastalos
Recording Secretary
On a Sunday morning, you will find Eva at church early. She has already picked up others who have needed a ride to church, unlocked the doors, turned on the lights and turned up the heat. Eva assists in the sound booth by running Zoom and in Kevin’s absence running the sound equipment.
Eva has served on the Leadership team for many years in different capacities. She served as chair for at least two years. She is currently serving as the recording secretary for the Leadership Team meetings. Eva also serves as the Financial Secretary where she is responsible for recording peoples giving to the church and providing reports on income for the Leadership Team.
Eva is very resourceful. When she sees a need for something she figures out a way to get it done. A few years ago when our janitorial persons retired Eva set up a schedule for volunteers to clean the various church rooms and bathrooms for a few years. We now have a person from outside the church doing the cleaning.
Eva keeps track of the all of the church cleaning and kitchen supplies and orders when needed. She also orders the Easter lilies and recently has taken on ordering office supplies. Eva also orders offering envelopes so that they are here in time for the new year.
Eva is also a good fundraiser. She has been organizing our pie sales at the Fourth of July and other locations for many years. She keeps a large tote in the basement with all of the supplies needed so that it can be taken to the pie sale site and set up quickly and efficiently.
Eva is very involved with organizing and serving pot luck dinners, receptions, Messy Church dinners and Easter Breakfasts. She recently offered to organize a Children’s Sunday breakfast. She is always willing to help out where needed to set up or take down, serving as cashier at the Christmas Bazaar, cleaning the church, painting the parsonage porch, cleaning and preparing the parsonage for our interim pastor, soliciting for what is needed for food, etc.
Several years ago Eva came up with the idea of having a coffee and conversation group that would meet in the Education Wing at Church on Thursday mornings. Coffee was provided and various persons would bring in snack food. These Thursday get-togethers included having presentations by speakers as well as field trips to various locations. These ecumenical get-togethers were very well received and enjoyed until Covid hit. This past summer she organized Friday night porch gatherings at the parsonage.
Over the past year, Eva has recognized church volunteers by writing up summaries of their church involvement. These have been included in the weekly church newsletter. She has done an excellent job with this. Eva is a key person on our team and we are very fortunate to have such a kind, loving and generous person in our church family.
