WHAT IS THE CHURCH?
Hi faithful friends. A simple question you say, well it is really, we learned as youngsters and are still teaching our youngsters the well known hymn I am the church. Here are the first two verses:
The church is not a building;
the church is not a steeple;
the church is not a resting place;
the church is a people.
I am the church! You are the church!
We are the church together!
All who follow Jesus,
all around the world!
Yes, we’re the church together!
We’re many kinds of people,
with many kinds of faces,
all colors and all ages, too
from all times and places.
Over the last few weeks and months we have taken a look at what happens after church service on Sunday until the next church service the following Sunday. Were you surprised? It is obvious that it requires all of us using the gifts we received from God, also obvious that we all didn’t receive the same gifts, what one person does well someone else may not, but have their own gifts to share. Some tasks are complicated, some are simple, but all important to the whole. The leadership team and all the volunteers working together form our church. Everyone doing what they can. What gifts did God give you? How could those gifts be shared?
Leadership meetings are held once a month (usually on the 1st Tuesday) and are open to all. New ideas and new members are always welcome.
